Archipelago Culture Parade in Kota Tua Went Festive

Hundreds of people were enthusiastic watching the Archipelago Culture Parade held by Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department in Kota Tua, West Jakarta, this morning. This annual event was enlivened by the performances of Reog Ponorogo, Ondel-Ondel, Tanjidor, Barongsai, Lenong Betawi, Sisingaan, and dances.

This Archipelago Culture Parade is intended to provide knowledge to the people about the cultures that exist in Indonesia as well as foreign cultures that used to have influences in Kota Tua area

“This Archipelago Culture Parade is intended to provide knowledge to the people about the cultures that exist in Indonesia as well as foreign cultures that used to have influences in Kota Tua area,” stated Head of Kota Tua Area Unit, Gatot Dwihastoro, Sunday (12/14).

There are four foreign cultures that once had influences in Kota Tua area during the colonial era. Those cultures are Dutch, Arabic, Portuguese, and Chinese.

World Royal Heritage Festival to Be Held Biennially

Muhammad Jailani (30), a visitor from Karawang, West Java, admitted that he deliberately came with his family to watch the parade.

“The event is festive. Many cultures are shown, thus the children can also be taught at the same time,” he said.
